I'm a big fan of Dave Grohl and the way he single-handedly wrote and recorded the first foo fighters album. Von Kleet started in prety much the same way really. I had a bunch of songs recorded at home on my trusty dictaphone (thanks argos) and some stuff I'd put down on my ultra hi-tech 4-track tape recorder, then one day I went to a studio to start recording proper sounding versions of the songs. I played all the instruments myself - drums first, then guitar, bass & then vocals. I've done over an albums worth now. You can hear it all on the player up there. Anyway, the 1st EP 'Junkie' got played on XFM. Gary Crowley at BBC London took a shine to us and started playing the follow-up EP on his show...it also won the PlayMusic Magazine Best Unsigned Artist award. I was well chuffed me. I realised I needed to find some band members so the songs could be done live (plus playing the solo acoustic scene was doing my bloody head in!). So, when you come to a kleet gig show you will see me singing and playing the drums at the same time (like Karen Carpenter), Killian is on guitar and Cassie is on the bass. We are terrific and we have showers and jokes together after gigs like footballers do. We will treat you real nice at gigshows. Come up to us, we will actually speak to you. Exchange digits with us and we’ll be calling you up in the middle of the night asking you to come and hang out with us at the kebab shop. Bye. ~k l e e t |
